About the role

Simply Social Care (SSC) is working with an established provider of children's residential care to recruit a Deputy Manager for a Bradford-based children's home.

The provider is committed to creating safe, stable and nurturing environments where children and young people can feel secure, develop confidence and achieve positive outcomes. The service is designed to feel like a home, with consistent care and a strong focus on safeguarding, relationships and day-to-day wellbeing.

This is a senior role supporting the Registered Manager with the leadership and smooth running of the home. You will help maintain high standards of care, support the residential team and contribute to effective planning, recording and operational decision-making.

The successful applicant must already hold the Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (England), or a demonstrably equivalent qualification, and have at least two years' recent experience in an Ofsted-regulated children's residential home. Previous senior, shift-leading, team-leading or supervisory responsibility is essential.

The position is full-time and permanent, working 40 hours per week with flexibility across seven days. There are no routine shifts or sleep-ins, although occasional emergency cover may be required when usual and relief staff are unavailable.

The salary is £33,000 to £35,000 per year, with an annual performance-related bonus of up to £2,500. External clinical supervision is also available for members of the senior management team.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day leadership and smooth running of the home.
  • Provide visible, consistent leadership and guidance to the residential care team.
  • Help maintain safe, nurturing and individualised care for children and young people.
  • Contribute to care planning, safeguarding, risk management and accurate recording.
  • Support staff induction, supervision, development and good practice.
  • Work constructively with families, social workers and other professionals involved in a child's care.
  • Contribute to staffing, rota and operational cover arrangements.
  • Provide occasional emergency shift or sleep-in cover only when other cover is unavailable.

Essential requirements

  • Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (England), or a demonstrably equivalent qualification, already completed.
  • At least two years' recent experience in an Ofsted-regulated children's residential home.
  • Previous senior, shift-leading, team-leading or supervisory responsibilities.
  • Working knowledge of safeguarding, care planning, risk assessment, staff supervision, the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards.
  • Ability to work flexibly across seven days to meet service needs.
  • Willingness to provide occasional emergency shift or sleep-in cover when required.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Desirable requirements

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare completed or currently being undertaken.
  • Previous experience at Deputy Manager level in a children's residential home.
